Maulana Sadiq Hasan is a leading aalim and historian of Shia Islam. Originally from Pakistan, he migrated to Australia years ago and settled there. However, every year he travels to Middle East, Pakistan, USA, Canada, UK and Africa to deliver lectures and majalis during muharram, Ramadhan and other months.
His most prominent work is a series of lectures on Seerat e Nabi (SAWW) which he delivered over a number of months/years.
He leads Hajj and Umra groups every year to Saudi Arabia and other groups to Iraq, Iran and other Shia Muslim holy sites.
Maulana Abul Qasim Rizvi
With a good command in various languages which include Arabic, Persian, English, Urdu, Hindi, Marathi and Gujrati; Maulana Abul Qasim has travelled to various parts of the world to recite majalis. He was the resident alim in Kampala(Uganda) from 1996-2005.Maulana Qasim finished his secondary education from Mumbai and then studied for four years from 1985-1989 in Jamea Amiril Momineen(A.S) in Mumbai as well.
After completing his primary islamic studies from Mumbai, Maulana travelled to Qum in 1989 for higher studies.After completing studies and returning from Qum, he served as a resident alim from 1996-2005 in Kampala(Uganda).
The Maulana has played a vital role in representing shia muslims through media. Some of which include his Dars on Nahjul Balagha on the Ali channel in Mumbai. These Dars were part of the lectures he used to give when he was a member of the World Islamic Net in 1996. These lectures were mainly concerned with social subjects.
He also gave lectures through radio when serving as Alim in Kampala.
While in Kampala he also taught girls in the Hauza and gave crash courses to other shia preachers who had to go around Uganda for majalis and lectures.
The Maulana is currently serving as a resident alim in Melbourne.
Sheikh Jihad Ismail
Sheikh Jihad Mohammed Wassef Ismail was born in Kuwait in 1964 to Lebanese Parents. He lived in Kuwait until He was 14 years old. In 1978, He migrated to Australia with his parents. He finished his High School and joined the University of Western Sydney, to complete a BA degree in Interpreting and Translation in the mid. 80's. He then decided to pursue his religious education further, and chose Al-Azhar university as his place of studies, having been born to Sunni parents.
After graduating from the faculty of Da'wah and Usool, he came back home to Australia and began his Tabligh work. He was always interested in the School of Thought of Ahlul-al-Bait (A.S), mainly through the influence of his late father who had in fact met the late Ayatollah Sheikh Mohammad Hussein Aal-Kashef Al-Ghataa, who was the Grand Mar'je of the time. His father was a great advocate of unity between Sunni's and Shia's. After reading so much literature about the Shia School of Thought, he decided to convert. He then went to Qum, Iran to modify his religious studies according to the School of Ahlul-al-Bait (A.S).
He is currently working as the Imam & Religious advisor of Nabi Akram mosque in Sydney. He has also held a number of government and non-government positions, the main one being an official government Interpreter/Translator in the Australian court system. Until recently He was the Head of the Arabic and Islamic Studies Department in Al-Zahra Islamic College, Sydney. He is also one of the official spokesperson on behalf of the Islamic community with the Australian government & media.
